In Indiana, the statute of limitations for filing a slip and fall claim is two years from the date the injury occurred. This deadline applies to personal injury and property damage claims. If the claim is against a city or county entity, an Indiana Tort Claim Notice must be filed within 180 days. If the claim is against a state entity, the notice must be filed within 270 days.
There are exceptions to the two-year limit for minors and individuals with legal disabilities. For minors, the period begins when they turn 18. For those with legal disabilities, the period begins when the disability is removed.
